Cloud Ascension
Details
A refined variation of the classical Tatewaki pattern, this design features cloud motifs nestled within the swelling curves of opposing wave forms. The rhythmic vertical lines create movement and balance, while the clouds add a sense of depth and quiet majesty. As one of the distinguished yūsoku patterns of the imperial court, it was historically used for the sashinuiki trousers of retired emperors and new princes, as well as the formal robes of regents. Its association with the highest ranks of nobility continues to define it as a motif of exceptional dignity. Structured yet graceful, the design embodies authority, composure, and timeless elegance, preserving the refined aesthetic of court culture in a form that remains striking today.
